How to plan flowers for the celebrations that fill our local spring — leis, corsages, centerpieces, and photo-worthy bouquets.

Graduation season, locally

Between the Hart District high schools, College of the Canyons, and CSUN just down the freeway, late May and early June are the busiest gifting weeks of our year. Order at least a week ahead for those dates; the last forty-eight hours before a ceremony sell out first.

For a ceremony, choose something the graduate can carry one-handed while holding a diploma and hugging relatives. A compact hand-tied bouquet or a wrapped presentation bouquet beats a tall vase every time.

Quinceañera flowers

A quinceañera usually needs more pieces than families expect: the honoree's bouquet, a smaller replica for the doll or the offering, corsages and boutonnières for the court, church arrangements, and reception centerpieces. Building the list in one conversation keeps the palette consistent and the budget honest.

Blush, ivory, gold, and soft blue are the palettes we are asked for most often here, and they photograph beautifully in our light.

Corsages and boutonnières that survive the night

Spray roses, orchids, and lisianthus are the reliable choices. Magnetic or slide-on wristlets are far kinder to a dress than pins, and we keep everything in the refrigerator until the moment of pickup.

Gifting the day after

A boxed arrangement delivered the morning after a milestone is an underrated gesture. The house is quiet, the photographs are being sorted, and flowers arriving then feel like a second celebration.
