Thanksgiving Centerpieces: Low, Lush & Conversation-Friendly

How to choose a Thanksgiving centerpiece that fits your table, lasts through the long weekend, and lets guests see each other across the meal.
Keep it low
The best Thanksgiving centerpiece stays under about twelve inches tall so guests can talk across the table. Long tables look beautiful with one low runner-style arrangement or a few matching pieces spaced down the center.
Order ahead of the holiday rush
Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest of the year for florists. Reserve your centerpiece two to three weeks ahead and schedule delivery or pickup for the Tuesday or Wednesday before, so the blooms have time to open fully by Thursday.
Make it last the whole weekend
Keep the centerpiece in the coolest room overnight and away from the oven and the fireplace. Top up water each morning — a well-conditioned arrangement should still look full when the leftovers are gone.
