Choosing flowers

Choose for the space, not just the photo

Start with where the flowers will sit. A dining-table arrangement should leave room for plates and conversation; a gift for a small desk needs a smaller footprint. Share a photo of the space and the table dimensions when asking for a custom design.

Give the studio a color direction rather than a long list of exact stems. Ivory and blush create a soft palette; contrasting colors feel livelier. If one flower matters to you, mention it early so availability and suitable alternatives can be discussed.

Caring for arrangements

Check the water every day

For flowers in a vase, keep the stems in water and remove any leaves below the waterline. Replace cloudy water, clean the vase, and recut accessible stems with clean scissors. Use flower food according to the packet instructions rather than adding household remedies.

A flower box needs different care. If your design uses floral foam, keep the foam moist and add water slowly to its liner without soaking the decorative box. Leave the stems in place. Ask the studio how your particular arrangement is constructed before watering it.

Keep both styles away from direct sun, heat and ripening fruit. A cool indoor spot helps; no arrangement has a guaranteed lifespan, because the flowers and conditions differ.

Santa Clarita events

Plan the flowers around the event schedule

Tell the studio whether your event is indoors or outdoors, when guests arrive, and how long the flowers will be on display. For an outdoor Santa Clarita celebration, note afternoon sun, shade and wind rather than assuming every flower will perform the same in heat.

Confirm venue access, setup time, table sizes and the person receiving the flowers. Keep arrangements cool and shaded before display, and coordinate placement close to the start of the event where the venue schedule allows.

Start wedding and event inquiries at least four weeks ahead; allow at least one week for custom arrangements. Bring your date, venue, guest count, priorities and budget to the conversation so the studio can recommend a workable plan.

Care guidance draws on NC State Extension’s cut-flower care advice and Iowa State Extension’s floral design guidance. Follow any care instructions supplied with your arrangement.
